What's the difference between uPVC, wood, and Aluclad windows?
uPVC is a five-chamber, steel-reinforced profile that is essentially maintenance-free, with 60+ standard colors and 50+ woodgrain laminate finishes. Wood is 83 mm laminated hardwood in eight species, pre-finished inside and out. Aluclad (metal-clad) pairs a laminated hardwood interior with an aluminum, bronze, or stainless-steel exterior shell — timber warmth inside, zero maintenance outside. All three are custom-engineered and manufactured for a single project.
Are Henselstone windows and doors hurricane and impact rated?
Yes. Products are tested to DP 65+, sustained wind loads to 140 mph, and Large Missile impact (Level D), and are independently NAMI certified. The exact coastal rating is engineered per project, and certification documentation is available to specifiers on request.
How energy efficient are they?
Standard units install at a Uw as low as 0.28. Triple-glazed units reach a Uw of 0.12–0.16 (roughly R-8 to R-10), with glass U-values as low as 0.09 — passive-house performance. (U-factors are given in U.S. units.)
What is a tilt-turn window?
A European-style window whose sash both swings inward like a door and tilts inward from the top for secure ventilation. Multi-point hardware pulls the sash tight to the frame at several points, giving a strong seal and high security.
What is a lift-and-slide door?
A large glass door whose panels lift slightly off their weather seals and glide sideways along a track, allowing very large openings that still seal tightly when closed. Panels can run up to about 32 feet long and 10 feet tall.
Do you handle installation, or only supply the products?
Both. Henselstone is the specification partner and certified installer — design input, in-house engineering and shop drawings, manufacturing in Germany, logistics, certified installation, and long-term service, all under one team.
What warranty do you offer?
A ten-year, full-replacement warranty covering materials, workmanship, hardware, and finishes. Because every wood and metal-clad unit is completely factory-finished before it ships, the finish is covered too — and the warranty transfers with the home.
Where are the products made?
They are engineered and manufactured in Germany, then delivered and installed by Henselstone's certified team in the United States, where Henselstone is the exclusive source for these systems.
